Context & Brief
The clients loved the location and character of the original property but wanted to transform it into a light-filled, modern home that worked for family life while making the most of its coastal setting.
Design Response
We created a bold, modern extension that opens the house to the sea views and maximises natural light. Large glazed openings, a clean zinc-clad roofline, and a palette of natural materials anchor the design in its surroundings while giving it a fresh, contemporary feel.
Outcome
The result is a bright, spacious home that balances character with modern living — a coastal retreat that is both practical for everyday family life and striking in its architectural presence.
The building is designed to a high standard, incorporating highly efficient insulation and heating systems. Windows have been carefully positioned to maximise natural light while preventing overheating in the summer.
A private, sun-filled corner has been created to enjoy views of the garden, seamlessly extending the dining area outdoors and enhancing both the layout and the sense of space.
