This rear extension in scenic Widemouth transformed a dated kitchen into a bright open-plan living space. Designed by KS Architecture in Cornwall, the project focused on natural light, energy efficiency, and seamless connection to the garden.
A Coastal Retreat at Widemouth Bay

Context & Brief
The brief called for 80sqm of additional accommodation, creating a relaxed family lounge linked to the kitchen with access to the garden, alongside practical storage for wetsuits, boots, and surfboards. At first floor, the client wanted a private retreat connected to the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and views across Widemouth Bay.

Design Response
We created a single-storey side extension for utility and storage, alongside a light-filled family lounge opening onto the garden. Upstairs, a new en-suite and ‘escape space’ were designed as a sanctuary to unwind and enjoy the coastal outlook.

Outcome
Sea Haze now offers a balance of practical family living and serene private spaces, with every detail tailored to its coastal lifestyle and spectacular setting.
